Blood oranges are one of those fruits that just make us pause and appreciate their vibrancy. They also taste incredible and are loaded with adrenal-supportive vitamin C. Plus, they make a gorgeous, citrusy, simple 5-ingredient smoothie! Yum! The first step is to peel and remove the seeds from the blood oranges. Then the segments are separated and frozen so they can make a perfectly chilled smoothie. You could freeze them a few days (or even weeks) in advance for quicker smoothie prep. We tried adding fresh orange segments to the blender with ice but found the flavor got too watered down. So frozen fruit is key here! The frozen orange slices are added to a blender along with coconut milk for creaminess. We prefer light coconut milk in this recipe, but full-fat works as well. Collagen is added for protein and lime juice adds more vitamin C and the perfect amount of tartness. To keep this recipe vegan, you could omit the collagen, use vegan-friendly collagen, or sub your favorite vanilla protein powder. Finally, a pinch of Himalayan pink salt or sea salt rounds out the flavors and provides trace minerals for further adrenal support. We hope you LOVE this smoothie! It’s:CitrusyTart-sweetCreamyRefreshing& Tastes like a creamsicle! It would be delicious as an afternoon snack, grab-and-go breakfast, or alongside weekend brunch.
