🧾 Ingredient Notes

Here is the pic of ingredients and you’ll need only 6 ingredients. You’ll have healthy yet delicious dry fruits modak ready to offer to Lord Ganesha.

Nuts: I have used almonds and cashews which are most commonly used in Indian sweets. But for a variation, you can add other nuts like walnuts, pecans, hazelnuts. Dates: I have used California Medjool dates which are bigger in size compared to sticky dates available in India. Water: Since my dates are not that sticky and moist, I have added little. But you may or may not need any. It depends on how moist your dates are. Ghee: That’s what most commonly used in our Indian desserts. But if looking for a vegan option then use coconut oil.

👩‍🍳 How To Make Dry Fruits Modak? (Pics)

NOTE: Here I am using Indian style Preethi brand mixer grinder. This recipe would not work in Blendtec or Vitamix type of blender. If you don’t have an Indian style grinder then you should use a food processor.

  1. Take almonds and cashews in the jar.
  2. Pulse it to grind coarse powder.
  3. Now add dates, raisins.
  4. Also, add dry coconut.
  5. Again pulse it to make a coarse mixture.
  6. Now add ghee.
  7. Again start pulsing and it should come together like a dough. If not then you can a teaspoon of water at a time, pulse and see.
  8. Remove the mixture to plate. Grease the mould using ghee and start shaping into modak. usually, keep the mould close, start stuffing and pressing tightly from the bottom hole. Then smooth out the bottom surface and after that, I open and unmould.

💭 Tips For Dry Fruits Modak Recipe

You can shape into the ladoo. It is good for growing kids and you can serve them as an after school snack. There is another version of dry fruits modak where the outer layer is made from rice flour and stuffing is made from nuts and dried fruits. The procedure to make an outer layer, shaping and steaming are the same as ukadiche modak.
