❤️About This Recipe
You’ll need only 8 ingredients (including water and salt) and 5 minutes. This is an Indian spiced, yogurt-based drink. Pudina chaas (or any variety of chaas) is so cooling to your body, so it is usually served during the hot summer days. Super easy to make: just add ingredients into the blender, blend and serve. This can’t get any simpler than this.
🧾Ingredient Notes
Yogurt: Traditionally full-fat yogurt is used to make pudina chaas. But if you’re considering fat intake then you can use fat-free or low-fat yogurt. If so, chaas will be light and less creamy. Mint leaves: use fresh (not wilted) mint leaves. Discard the stems that make the drink bitter sometimes. Green chili: It is OPTIONAL. Seeds are removed to control the heat level. Just a half-inch piece is required. If you do not prefer the spicy taste or do not like to bite into the raw chili then skip Roasted cumin powder: I usually make a small batch of my roasted cumin powder. How to make it at home: dry roast the cumin seeds on medium-low heat till they are golden brown and aromatic. Remove it to a plate and let it cool down completely. Then grind into a spice grinder (or use mortar and pestle if making a small quantity). Black salt (kala namak): It gives the right zing to mint chaas. There is no substitute for this ingredient. Black pepper powder: It aids in easy digestion.

💭Expert Tips
Pudina chaas tastes best when served chilled. Always use chilled yogurt and chilled water to get an instant chilled drink. Otherwise, make a few hours before serving and chill in the refrigerator. Instead of using a blender, you can use a stick blender just like this masala chaas recipe. It will separate (spices and yogurt settle at the bottom) as it sits longer, so always stir first and then serve.
🍽 Serving Mint Chaas
This is usually served along with the meal. So after having a spicy curry meal, drink a glass of it. It’s a great way to cool off the stomach and helps to stay away from acidity. Did you try this recipe? I’d love to hear about it! Click here to leave a review.
